GoBack uses its own bookmarks PrevSel1 and PrevSel2. You can check that with Edit > GoTo; just type in those bookmark names after you have done some editing.

There isn't an easy way to extend that to more edits. You'd have to write your own replacement for GoBack, using more hidden bookmarks.

The built-in commands aren't macros, and they almost surely aren't written in VBA (C/C++ would be my guess).

The macro recorder will try to put in some sensible VBA code that does the same thing, but probably the VBA code then runs the same C functions, too,

If you call any macro "GoBack", it will run instead of the built-in command.
But you would need an event handler for the SelectionChange event to put in any hidden bookmarks of your own, and in such a way that GoBack works about the same way it used to.
That is, no hidden bookmark for every single character you change, but only if the edits are some distance apart.

If you want to try it: Good luck! (You'll need it, it's no walk in the park)

    Morning, Klaus -

Thanks for the answer. Since I'm an urban dweller, unfamiliar w/nature and parks, and event handlers, I
will stay with what I'm given.

Appreciate your answer and the explanation.
