Receipt Control (98)

Is there any way to make OL98 control email receipts like OE can? You know, either request receipts or block return receipts?

I know that if my Palm device creates the mail, I can make it request a receipt, but there is no interface on OL98 that lets me do it.

Has anyone used VBA -- or whatever -- to make these options work in OL98? Thanks.

I'm doing this from memory as I don't have 98 installed. Sorry if this is not informative enough.

I believe it was one of the properties of a sent mail that could be set by clicking the additional tab that also provided access to things like voting buttons. It was possible - and again I forget how - to set this, and make it a default (our organisation had people who did this).
I had thought it was on the options bar - but it may merely be a sticky default, or able to be set by modifying the mail message template directly.

How would I go about modifying the mail template? I suspect that only fixes one problem -- asking for receipts.

How does one prevent OL98 from sending receipts??

I can't be the first person to think of this...

See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 180033, OL98: (CW) Tracking the Delivery and Reading of E-mail Messages. It notes:

These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

If your dialogs are different, this could explain it. Unlike Outlook 2000, which had a "reconfigure mail support" button somewhere in the Tools|Options... dialog, I think 98 made you uninstall and reinstall to switch modes.
