Netscape Mail

Greetings!

First off, I would like to say, I despise Netscape mail... I find it very unfunctional, and an over all pain in the bum. I much prefer outlook, does anyone know if there is a plug-in for Outlook/Outlook Express which would allow me to edit/send/recieve/compose mail and route it through netscape mail servers?

Thanks!

Drk.

Re: Netscape Mail

I did this for a number of years with a simple setting, no patch or plug in I went from using it with Pegasus to Outlook and back to Pegasus. Unfortunately, I don't remember how as I have switched to Netscape Mail for about 2-3 years, but I remember that I is a simple "preferences" thing.

Hi Drk:

I've never used anything but NS, so I have nothing to compare it to. I know it's fairly fast. What can you do in Outlook or OE that you can't do in Netscape Messenger?

Thanks in advance?

Is this POP3 mail or web mail? POP3 mail is easy to set up in Outlook or Outlook Express: you just need to copy your server settings from Netscape mail preferences and set them up in the mail client of your choice. (Unless Netscape has some kind of special rules...)

Can't recall a message.
Can't schedule an e-mail.
Rules wizard is poor by comparison..

There are others, but I havn't used outlook in a couple months, so I can't name them all..

hope that clarifies!

Re: Netscape Mail

From what you're saying, you're using a Netscape mail server of some sort. I'd be surprised if you couldn't use non-Netscape software to read your mail -- that kind of lock-in trick is more of a Microsoft thing to do.

Anyhoo, perhaps there's some information here:
<A target="_blank" HREF=http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/index_alpha.html>docs.iplanet.com</A>
There appears to be various Netscape server products and various versions. Once you determine what server software & version you are running you should be able to find an answer to your question.

Re: Netscape Mail

Well, yes, of course, but if you retrieve it through the Netscape Communicator mail client, it probably is POP3 mail. You'll need to copy the information from your mail preferences to Outlook/Outlook Express. (Note: you probably won't be able to recall messages unless your server supports that.)
