    No Pictures (IE 6 SP1)

Hello, I wonder if someone can help me with that. For some reason I can't see the pictures anymore. So, if I go to a site I just get the placeholders for the pictures with that "X" but not the picture. It's not on all sites but most I've tried. I tried to load the pages on Netscape and it works. I checked the Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and the check box to "Show Pictures" is selected. What's happening????? It used to work just fine. Any idea?? Thanks for you help, Tira

    Tira--

Am looking at Joe's long list full of resources. Before you edit the registry, you also might try this which works much of the time. This little glitch shows up in several versions of IE, 5.0 and up and has been rearing its head in IE6 after IE6 SP1 (included in or separate from Win XP SP1) is installed--and even when they aren't.

Re: No Pictures (IE 6 SP1)

Thanks for your help. I looked at the link you gave me, Joe, lots of interesting info. I also looked at the file types and the gifs were with the correct extension. I downloaded an update for IE, tried again and it worked. That was last night. This morning I checked some of the webpages again, and guess what, AGAIN the pictures don't show. Then I went to Tools/Internet Options/Multimedia, deselected and selected "Show Pictures" again, turned off my computer, turned it back on and.... here are the pictures. Is that weird or what. Must be the earthquakes we've been having out here <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> . I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, Tira

    Tira--
Did my quick Windows Explorer "content type" tip help, and if not why not fix IE? Here are links to the steps:
Reinstall IE from Kelly Theirot MS MVP Web Site

and Steps to take to Repair IE with KB's

I'd try the Add/Remove repair first--it's the simplest--and where you essentially go to Windows Components in Add/Remove and click on IE and then click on Add/Remove and you'll get a repair option--quick, easy, no down side.

Next if that doesn't show your picture's I'd use Kelly's Fix from her site.

Finally, if that doesn't show your pictures, then I'd take the steps you now have to repair IE per the MS KB for this by running System File Checker--I linked you to all of the steps. You'd start at the second link for Add Remove- 2nd would be go to the first for Kelly's fix--3rd back to the second for the way to run SFC.

Beyond that, Mark and Phil R. have posted some boot .ini tinkering you can search for to fix IE, if you're game for that but I believe you can fix it with the links above if not by going to Windows Explorer first off.
