Outlook - Invisble Email (2000 SR-1 (with security patch))

    Running Windows 2000 Pro
    We have Exchange 2000 SP-2
We have most of our users on same version of Outlook.
We have a user who as well as their own mailbox has access to a second mailbox shared between several users. When they go to that box, they only see unread messages. (No filter is applied). If they right click on the mailbox, and mark all messages read then all of the messages appear.
    Any suggestions?

How are they accessing the other mailbox? Are they doing File | open... or is it in their folder list?

You can check to see if the user with a problem has delivery set to a pst. Tools | Services, Delivery Tab. If so, change it back to their Exchange account because the pst option can cause all sorts of grief.

    Thank you for your response.
The mailbox is in their folder list and the emails are not being sent to a PST.

I've seen problems with views used with Exchange Server where more than one machine accesses the mailbox. Similar to problems with keeping the Outlook bar in sync, there are times when new messages don't show up until the view is changed. Or in your case it seems to be unread messages that are unread. I suspect the problem may be with OL/Exchange keeping the current state messages in the folder correctly.

I know that doesn't help much. Have you checked the MS KB? You might also check at http://www.slipstick.com since there's a lot of Exchange expertise over there.
