    Re: Link to Web-Page

    Do you wish to make information available to a website or do you wish to access existing info on the web for your spreadsheet ?.

    I think Excell 2000 is required for any serious attempt at either, but never having tried I am open to correction.

    Re: Link to Web-Page

    Just for curiosity, do you want live data displayed or do you want to just upload the data at certain intervals ?

    If it is the latter it should be achievable relatively easily.

    However if there was an easy solution I am certain you would have it by now.

    Agreed,

    Once a day would be fine, even if it had to be done manually...

    Re: Link to Web-Page

    I cannot access XL97 just now so am not sure if it can export to html, but that may not be necessary as IE does not seem to have a problem displaying xl sheets, if you click on any of the sheets that uploaded to the lounge you will see that. However I have to admit that I have never published anything to a website, and probably know less than you about it.

    Perhaps if you tried one of the other forums you might get some real help.

    Re: Link to Web-Page

    First, continuing to post new responses to you own message over and over again is probably not going to accomplish anything but to upset the other users. If someone has already read you first message and decided that they can't help, then they are just going to get upset when the see a new post has been added and go to read it to see what the answer was and just find another message from you asking the same question again. People who might answer some of your other questions may stop reading anything you post.

    Second, you are probably asking this question to the wrong group. This is not really an Excel question, it is a WEB publishing question. The closest forum here may be the VB Script/HTML forum.

    My Excel 2000 has a SaveAs type of HTML. I am not a web developer, so I don't know if that would be what you are looking for, and I don't know if it is available on earlier versions of Excel. I also know that it is possible to just put a url link to a .xls file into a WEB page, and when it is clicked on, the browser will open the file in Excel if Excel is installed on the PC.

    Re: Link to Web-Page

    Drk,

    I've had to achieve this myself.

    I did have Excel 2000, but I found that publishing largish tables as HTML via the "save as HTML" option tended to produce very large HTML and correseponding slow responses. It also relised on MSIE, probably 5.0 or above (I was producing for an Intranet, 5.5, so I did not need to worry).

    I ended up creating HTML via VBA code. The results came out well, but took a fair amount of work to get there- and the tables being output were optimised for our own Excel tables. I still used css to optimise the code- I don't know whether that would suit you- if you used a pre-css browser, it would not.

    I sued named ranges to define where a table began and end. Then for the table, I generated html for each cell:
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td>123</td>

    and then saved the table based on the named range.

    And just to give ideas. I also exported graphs (fairly easy to do). And then I used the VBA to create Javascript to display HTML to display a table of values which were used to create the graph. The values could be shifted around the screen. They could be initiated by clicking the graph, or by mouseover- user's choice.

    I'm a VBA developer, not a web developer- but I've had some fun developing ideas.
