empty db taking surprising amount of memory (2000)

I recently created a second database for our agency. It is tracking less data than our main database, and there are not yet any records in it (other than one tester), but it is taking up much more memory than our main database (13.5 mb vs 6.6 mb). does any one know what might be causing this, if it's something to sorry about, and if so, what i might be able to do to fix it?

    thanks,

Does compacting it make any difference?
If you have been doing a lot of development work building the new db then there will a lot of junk behind the scenes that compacting will remove.
