Would this be possible. (A2000 )

    Hi all.

This post isn't asking for a solution, but thoughts and feedback.

I've been asked whether it's possible to set up a database in the following manner.

A vehicle hire supplier would like a master database.
The supplier would like to give away, a client database "Free" dependant on the amount of vehicles hired by the client.

The master would update the client db's via Modem?, ISDN?, Broadband?

The client could manage his stock from the client database as supplied from the supplier.

    Can this be done.
How would the updates be managed.

    Just comments and thoughts please.
    Thanks

This sounds like it may be more practical via a web based solution.

The "form" can be password protected and all the data lives on the server.

All the client needs is 'net access, a web browser and a username/password.

    No need to distribute anything.

Don't try it in Access. Security will be a major issue, both ways. Bryan's suggestion of a web interface is much more practical.

    Hi Dave,

I would definitely agree with Bryan and Charoltte - web-based is the best bet here. Even if you don't build a fully-functional web app, you can still build the functionality you need to generate the data required by each client. This can all be password-protected - the same way you would protect an Access MDB with an MDW file.

If you have any web-related questions (ASP, ADO, etc...), drop by the Web design board...
