Unless there's a third party solution, Windows 95 doesn't support USB natively. The final version(s) did, but it was an OEM only bundled release. Details are in this article from Microsoft, with some further details in this Microsoft article.
The short answer: if you can find third party support for USB on Win95, chances are strong that it will be lacking, most likely in the detection and proper operation of USB devices.

Thanks Mark, it seems to me, after reading those 2 articles, that I would be best served by upgrading to Win98 Second Edition.
