Lost some tabs from Internet Control Panel (6 SP1)

Hi all,

Wonder if anyone can help me recover some tabs from the Internet Settings Control Panel aka IE's Internet Options. The only tab I can see is the "Connections" tab. All the rest have vanished. This happened after I forced a full reinstall of IE to correct a problem with it hanging. The re-install cured that problem, but now only the Connections tab remains in the options.

I'm running with full admin rights, on XP Pro SP1, IE6 SP1.

In the help/about it list the IE version as:

Update Versions:; SP1; Q328970;

if that helps....

Are you running standalone or as part of a domain? If part of a domain, you could have policies being set as part of the login. If standalone, double check to make sure that the user is still part of the local administratorsgroup. You could try a repair of IE.

Mr. Pud--

If you go to XP Toolbar Fix I believe your problem is solved--don't know how it got that way.

thanks guys,
defrags link got me half-way there, I found a fix on that site, but it didn't quite work, but it pointed me in the right direction of what needed to change in the registry.
I modified HKEY_CURRENT_USERsoftwarepoliciesmicrosoftinternet explorercontrol panel and set all the entries inside there to 0 rather than 1. And all my tabs reappeared in the Internet Options control panel

Thanks,
Mark

For future reference, this is the kind of stuff the "WinGuides" site simply accels in:

Internet Explorer Control Panel Restrictions (Part 1)
Internet Explorer Control Panel Restrictions (Part 2)

This is the old "regedit.com" site. Quite impressive -- look around for a bit.

Mark, Glad to see you got it fixed. Have you re-booted yet? If you login to a domain you can have policies set by your administrator during the domain login. So, your changes may not last over a boot if this is the case.

Hi,

It has held firm after a reboot. I'm on a LAN, but not controlled by a domain.. I prefer to live free and easy
