    Changing Default IE Search Page

    I wish to change the search page that I am sent to when I click on the Search button on the IE 5.5 Standard Toolbar. I have read the Knowledge Base article Q171853 and changed the Search Page values and added a Search Bar value but I still get sent to the default page. The KB article does mention that customized values will be ignored if "Use Custom Search URL" is 0 but I do not have this DWORD in the key. Where am I going wrong?

    Re: Changing Default IE Search Page

    Google has its own instructions at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html>http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html</A>

    It offers a .reg file containing the following:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMain]
    "Search Page"="http://www.google.com"
    "Search Bar"="http://www.google.com/ie"

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSearchURL]
    ""="http://www.google.com/keyword/%s"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSearch]
    "SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/ie"

    Hopefully that will do it.
