    Saving as previous version (2000)

When trying to convert an Access 2000 db to Access 97 I get the following error message:

"Your computer is missing at least one of the Microsoft Access object libraries. Etc...."

It suggests opening the 'converted' db in A97 and fix missing references. However, it refuses to open in A97 - I get this message: 'Microsoft Access is unable to open the data access page. The file does not exist, or you do not have read access to the file.

Any ideas? Is there something I can do at the 2000 end to fix references although I'm not told which references are missing?

    Cheers

To check References, go to any code window.
i.e. if you have any modules open one of them, otherwise open up any form event procedures.

    then go to Tools...References

You will see a list of References with the top ones ticked. If any of them have the word missing in them, they are broken or missing.

One by one, untick each missing one, then scroll down the list to find another reference equivalent to the missing one. (It might be a slightly different version number for example.)

If you can't find anything similar, you could try just deleting it. You may not need it.

I don't know whether this is going to solve the problem but it might.

There were no data access pages in Access 97, so you can't convert a 2000 database with DAPs to Access 97 format. Remove the data access pages before you try converting the app.

    Thanks John and Charlotte,

At the risk of asking a stupid question, how do I remove the data access pages?

Problem solved. I fixed missing references using the source file in A97. When converted to A2000, it now saves in prior version correctly.
