    Re: Access Security (2000)

    Have you overlooked something? Definitely

You should not set up security using the original default workgroup, as you almost certainly did (if you don't know about workgroups or don't think you are using one, you are using the original default workgroup <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>).

You need to use the Workgroup Administrator program that comes with Access to create yourself a new workgroup. Having done so, you can use the workgroup administrator program to change which workgroup you are using before opening a database. That method "sticks", i.e. the workgroup you choose will remain the workgroup in use for all databases until you switch to another one. Or, you can set up a shortcut and use the /wrkgrp flag to choose a workgroup just for when that shortcut is used to open a database. E.g. you would make the target of the shortcut something similar to

    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeMsaccess.exe" "NatabasesLG304 Patient RegistryLG304 Patient Registry.mdb" /wrkgrp "NatabasesDataman.mdw"
