Need help stopping web pages from loading (IE 6)

    Hello,

A few days ago, my computer just started loading X rated websites for no apparent reason. I will be surfing in Yahoo and porn pages just start poping up. I have deleted all cookies and temporary internet files, but it is still happening.

Can anyone tell me how to stop this? I have children and am concerned that they will be exposed to this material.

    Thanks,

    Try AdAware for starters.

I have tried AdAware. Deleted all of those items. I have also used WindowWasher to wipe out my cookies and temporary files. But they still continue to pop up.

    OK - what operating system?
Try (from the Start Menu > Run > )
    msconfig
and see what is listed in your startup programs.

Sounds like you've been hijacked by something . . .

You might try some of the excellent tools here:
    SpywareInfo

Specifically, I would look at HijackThis and the Startup List programs -- gather the information and post your results here for us to look at.

Thank you. HijackThis helped me to determine that I had a copy of RapidBlaster installed, which was causing the problem. I think I also had another similar program installed which I also removed. I also used Spybot Search and Destroy, which is also an excelent tool.

My only remaining question is how did these even get installed on my PC? I never OK'd the installation.

    Thanks!
