starting a Dot file (Word 2000)

Hi, is it possible to start a macro dot file with a other word dot file in the directory Startup. At this moment I use a Shortcut in de directory startup. This shortcut points to a file on a server. The problem with this solution is that if there is no connection to the server Windows is searching for the server.
I search a solution where the dot file in the Startup directory opens the dot file on the server and if it can

Yes, your template in the Startup folder can have an AutoExec macro that will check for another template and install it in the add-ins collection.

Apparently AutoExec is not 100% reliable in running code in other templates. See this thread for more information.

But it still seems like the best way to go.

A non-programming approach. Use the network logon script to copy the template to the startup folder. Then it is available on the network or off. This line works for a Win 2000/XP workstation because they have the appdata variable.

    xcopy "servertemplatesglobal templatesglobal.dot" "%APPDATA%microsoftwordstartup" /c /y
