pst file size (XP SP-1)

I understand that there is a 2 GB limit on the pst file size (forbid the thought that it gets that bad .

However, is there any limit on cumulative size of pst files. I have 3 pst files showing in the folder list - a couple of archive pst files (one just for junk mail) & my Outlook.pst.

Not a problem at this stage (cumulative is only c 730 MB) but just interested to know whether the 2 GB limit can be circumvented by using multiple pst files?

Without having stored all my junk mail I cannot give you a definitive answer.

However, given archives are pst files and archiving prevents the problems. Therefore I'd suspect that it is a fairly safe bet that the limits are file-related, not tree related.

That is - yes, that would be a workaround. I think a recent WOW email went into this in some detail - 12 July 2002 Vol 3 No 17 of Woody's Office for Mere Mortals (but I cannot find it in the archives under that date or name )

the limits are for the pst, not the profile - however as you open more psts it can slow outlook down, so you should only access the psts you need on a daily or weekly basis and close the ones you use less often.
