Filing News Posts (MSO 2000 SR-1a)

If I start up the news reader in Outlook, it appears to actually be Outlook Express...

This being the case, are posts I send to news groups stored in th OE Sent Items folder, or the Outlook Sent Items folder? In either case, is there any way to control this?

So far as I know it is all smoke and mirrors. <img src=/S/blackhole.gif border=0 alt=blackhole width=15 height=15> Newsreading is simply Outlook Express and storage and settings belong to Outlook Express.

I found that I controlled it by "calling a spade a spade" and invoking Outlook Express directly as a newsreader, and telling Outlook to just be a mail handler.
The advantage is that I can run both in parallel, set mail and news configurations unambiguously and am totally unconfused about what's doing what.

    Andrew:

So then you have to file all your news posts separately from your 'straight' email posts? No way to consolidate them?

    <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15> Yes - I actually liked it that way but didn't realise that I had an issue until you pointed it out <img src=/S/bwaaah.gif border=0 alt=bwaaah width=123 height=15>

Oh well - I'll have a think - perhaps there is an Outlook VBA code segment that'll do the trick of importing them - a good intellectual excercise to keep the brain cells plodding along.

As andrew says, it's all smoke and mirrors - it is outlook express in news only mode. sent items go to the oe sent folder.

i set up an imap account as the default in OE and the sent items are moved to the imap account's sent folder. i access the imap account from OL2002 and move them to a pst every few months. (also works for hotmail or other http account)
