    Can't Restore (Outlook 2000)

I needed to do a complete reinstall of my entire harddirve due to a system failure. Fortunately, I keep scrupulous backups and everything seems to be coming back OK...
    Except for Outlook.

I keep my data .pst file in a folder on my data partition, called, surprisingly enought "Outlook Data" . I use Outlook only for carlendar, contacts and tasks. Not for email.

I restored the file from the backup and pointed Outlook to it. Outlook seems to 'see' the file as my custom appearance settings are there. But none of the data is there. The data file itself is exactly the same size as both backups.

Any suggestions as to how I can restore this data would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

    Thank you very much.

Thank you, Mary. I was using the Outlook Bar Buttons. At your question, I checked the Folders and, sure enough the data is there. Except I still cannot find my Outlook Today.

Should I just delete the buttons and reestablish them from the folders list?

Thanks a lot for your kind assistance.

    Re: Can't Restore (Outlook 2000)

rename the *.fav file for your profile. depending on your OS, it'll be somewhere like: Cocuments and SettingsusernameApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook. When you open outlook it should recreate the file with the right shortcuts.

if outlook today is not visble after you do this (or if you use view | folder list and click on the top level of the folders) - is folder home page enabled? look on the view menu for show folder home page.

    Re: Can't Restore (Outlook 2000)

Thank you, again, Mary. The Outlook program has its complexities, I must say.
What I found was that Outlook was creating its data file in the Cocument and Settings......Outlook folder. This was in addition to my other location, which is D:Outlook Data. When I just deletec the Outlook folder on the C: drive all is well. However, looking into Outlook with your assistance has taught me a few things that should help me avoid this kind of stuff in the future.

    Much appreciated.

    Sincerely,
