Re: Having a combo box (2000)

Sorry, but your question is a bit confused. Tables don't have form views, so it's a little hard to tell exactly what you are describing. However, in any case, comboboxes are only bound to a single column, no matter how many show up when you drop the list down, and only the first visible column in the combobox will appear once the control loses focus. You can't change that behavior.

There is no reason at all to use a combobox on a report because comboboxes are intended to be interactive controls, so if you explain what exactly you're trying to accomplish, someone can probably help you find an alternative.

sorry, do you have any suggestions. I am doing a program for someone. I have set up a program that when they choose a number in the combo box it brings up all the information that has a relationship to that number.. How would I get all the information to show up in a report.......In a form the combo box will only show the first field so it will not show the other fields at all...

One possibility is to add text boxes that refer to the invisible columns of the combo box. The control source property would look like
    =cboNumber.Column(2)
where cboNumber is the name of the combo box and 2 refers to the third column. Please note that the columns are numbered starting with 0, so the first column is Column(0), etc.

Is you use Hans' suggestion, you'll need to remember to requery those other controls from the AfterUpdate event of the combobox itself in order to avoid delays in refreshing their contents.

Sorry, your question is confusing me <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>. Can you explain as clearly as possible what is working and what isn't? what do you want to "update to change" when you change what? <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>
