Disable Macros in Worksheet (Excel 2000)

I have a template that I had macros in. A friend wanted a copy (but he doesn't need the macros), so I deleted all the macros and saved the template. Even though there are no macros listed anymore, Excel stills asks at opening whether you want to enable or disable the macros. I'm trying to remove any confusion for this friend. How can I get this dialog to stop displaying every time he opens this template?

    Thanks!

I assume that you have deleted all modules and user forms. Have you also checked that there are no macros in the ThisWorkbook object and in each of the sheets? You can inspect these by starting the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11), making sure the Project Explorer is visible (Ctrl+R), expanding your workbook and double clicking each of the sheet objects and the ThisWorkbook object.

If what HansV said doesn't work for you, you could have the old style Excel4 macros stuck in your workbook. You can not delete these. I don't know how they get there but I've had this happen to me too and there's no way to get rid of them (and I had MS tech confirm this for me). Sometimes they seem to appear if you add a control from Forms in the sheet and then right click to 'assign macro'. Yet another irritating Excel bug.

I know that I've seen this in xl97 but when I open the same workbook in xl2000 it doesn't report that there are these macros (according to that same MS tech support person, xl2000 is more forgiving of the old style macros). You can also confirm that they are still your workbook if you open it in xl97 and you initially say 'disable macros'. At this point, another message comes up saying there are still macros in the workbook. This is when you know you have these old ones there.

How did you delete the macros?

You have to delete the modules, userforms, class modules, worksheet object code to get rid of macros.
