    Supress Endnotes (Word XP)

In page setup under the layout tab the supress endnotes box is checked and grayed out. Any idea how to uncheck it?

    The supress endnotes check box doesn't mean "supress endnotes" <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>
Rather it means "Do not print Section endnotes in this section (print them at the end of document)"

Accordingly, to ungrey it, you insert an endnote that is specified as being for this section and then select page setup while in the section.
    It will be ungrey - but perhaps not what you'd wanted <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Supress Endnotes (Word XP)

Okay, so maybe I have a different problem. What is going on is I have three sections in this document when I go to view header and footer I can only see the header and footer in the first section. When I go to the first section and place my cursor anywhere on the page and bring up my reveal formating everything looks fine, but when I go to the second section (where I cannot see the header or footer) and do the same thing my reveal formatting tells me that supress footnotes or endnotes is turned on) and it you double click it opens the page layout view and the box is grayed out?

    Yuk.
Its got me beat without seeing the document <img src=/S/disappointed.gif border=0 alt=disappointed width=15 height=15> just for a giggle have you tried inserting an extra endnote defined as 'in this section' to try to ungrey the box?

Well not to confuse the issue anymore but we did something totally unrelated and the footer showed up. We went in and clicked different first page and then unclicked and clicked it again and like magic it appeared. Its got me beat to! How odd.
