    AutoCorrect File (2000/SR1)

Where is the AutoCorrect file stored and what is it called? Is it a text file like the Spell Check file that can be modified?
    Thanks,

As far as I know, Excel does not have an AutoCorrect, that is a Word feature. Excel has an AutoComplete to complete entries that are the same as other entries in the same column. In this case, the entries are in the same column as the cell being typed into.

It's in Tools --> AutoCorrect. It works just like Word's but I want to know where the file is stored on the local drive. Do you know where the Spell check file is stored? Maybe it's in the same location.
    Thanks,

    Re: AutoCorrect File (2000/SR1)

There is one autocorrect file for each user id and each language and it is shared between Office programs. To find them look for files ending in .acl
For English, the file will be called MSO1033.acl but the location of the file depends on the operating system. For example in Windows XP it is stored in the directory Cocuments and Settings<user name>Application DataMicrosoftOffice

The custom dictionary is usually called Custom.dic, and again 1 file for each userid and location varies depending on operating system. For Windows XP it is in Cocuments and Settings<user name>Application DataMicrosoftProof

Files for the main dictionaries are stored in C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedProof

Is there a way to modify the Autocorrect (MSO1033.acl) file outside of Excel? If so, what program would I use? Thanks for your help.
