    IE Error

    About 4 or 5 days ago I started getting an I.E. error when I try to post a reply in the Lounge. It has been happening too many times lately when I hit the "Post It" button. I will attach an screen shot of the error but I have no idea what is causing it. Sometimes the reply gets posted other times I have to repeat the process. I haven't seen this problem occur, at least so far, when I make a new post like this one.

    I am running XPP SP-1 and I.E. 6 xpsp1. I don't seem to be having problems anywhere but the Lounge!

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    You might trying deleteing ALL of your wopr cookies and any internet temp files from "wopr.com" and see if that helps.

    Remember that you will need to log back in and the action above should remove the auto log in settings.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave,

    Thanks. I had already done that twice and it didn't seem to help but I'll do it again.

    Deleted all cookies, etc. for the Lounge. Don't know yet if it helped but it didn't yesterday. Is there anything like an I.E. repair? I don't even see I.E. in the list of installed programs when I open the "Add Remove Programs" in the "control Panel."

    Have you tried clicking on the "Send Error Report" button. This often responds with a fix , if it is a problem that MS know about already.

    Re: IE Error

    StuartR,

    Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have sent the report about 5 or 6 times. I didn't see anything that would help me figure out what was wrong. There must not be a fix yet but I'll keep sending the report each time it happens.

    Re: IE Error

    It happened again after deleting all the cookies, etc. and I sent the error message again. I can always go back to the forums to see if my reply actually got posted but I would have no way of knowing if a PM went through if this happened. Any thoughts on that?

    Thanks.

    Re: IE Error

    Help, I found this article but if I do as it says, will I still be able to access the Internet to download and install IE 6 as it says to do in step 5?

    Thanks.

    Method 2: Edit the Registry and Install Internet Explorer 6
    1. While you are logged on as an administrator, click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify. To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP, use the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftActive SetupInstalled Components{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

    To reinstall only Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP, use the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftActive SetupInstalled Components{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}

    4. Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK.
    5. Quit Registry Editor, and then download and install Internet Explorer 6. For information about how to download and install Internet Explorer 6, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

    LOUNGE MATTERS MODERATOR.

    Please close this thread and or move it to Internet Explorer forum because I placed a new thread there dealing with this subject matter called I.E. 6.0 Error. Sorry for the inconvenience and mistake on my part by choosing the wrong forum in which to post this problem.

    Thanks.
