Recently used files (Office XP professional-2002)

Sorry to be a nuisance again; have installed Office XP Prof. onto new XP computer. All is fine, except cannot get 'recently used files list' as normal. It is 'greyed' out the tools-options-general listings. Have looked at the registry - current_user/sotware/policies/microsoft but cannot work out which key to alter. Can you help please?

Have you opened any files yet?
If not there is nothing to list, so it is grayed out.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Do you have TweakUI installed?

If so, you may have (accidentally??) turned off the recents feature (it's not just an Office feature)

Turn it back on by checking

"Add new documents to Documents on Start Menu" on the IE tab.

Have been working all day on various files. Still cannot get any 'used files list' on the Word -File-Open menu as normal.
It is 'greyed' out the Tools-Options-General listings. Normally I have it set for 9 recently used files. Any suggestions welcome please

Are there entries under the PoliciesMicrosoft branch? I wouldn't expect those on a home PC. You can export a text file of those entries from regedit.exe using Registry|Export registry file... It is safest to name the file with a .txt (rather than a .reg) extension. You then could upload the file to the Lounge for review.
