Links don't work anymore (PPT/Excel xp)

I have an excel file with charts. I paste linked all the charts into Powerpoint xp. I've been changing the charts etc. and the ppt file had been updating accordingly. But for some reason, now then won't update. When i opened the ppt file it said that some links are unavailable and have to be relinked.

So i go into the excel file and highlight the charts and then open ppt and paste link it there. When i update the link, i get the message... "the linked file was unavailable and can't be updated".

Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on?

The weird thing is i can paste link chunks of the chart but not the whole thing together. I've used this method on many other jobs and it works fine.

Have you tried going to the Edit/Links menu in the PPT file and looking at the link info there?

    Cheers

http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00339.htm gives information about NAV in conjunction with Office XP SP-2, but sometimes even just NAV itself will cause some of these issues.

At any rate, the resolutions in the links there may help.
