    Multiple .pst files

We have 2 users on a network who need to receive copies of every e-mail related to a number of different projects (OL2K/Win 98).

We would like to set up a .pst file in each of the project directories, enabling access by both of the users for reading and writing.

Adding to the project.pst files would probably need to be done manually, but it would be nice if we could also alert them to the existence of a possible duplicate (based on sender, time of sending, receipt, etc) entry in the file.

Is this possible? Would coding be needed for the duplicate check? Can the project.pst files be personal folders, or do they need to be public folders?

use public folders. pst's can't be shared. PST = BAD if you have exchange, why not use it?

Because Exchange is relatively new in our company and because I didn't realize that you couldn't share .pst's.

Now I know, I will proceed to use the public folders.

    Thanks for the advice.

In case it helps someone else - we resolved this by using public folders, and categories to indicate that important actions have been taken.

You can share .pst files. The .pst file has to be on the network in a directory that both can get to with their Outlook. If you don't want others to have access to this file, have your network admin set it up that way.

    Re: Multiple .pst files

sorry, not exactly. a pst can only be used by one user at a time because it's locked when opened.they would need to close outlook for another user to access it.

it can be "shared" on a network server in the same way that other files can be, but when most users ask about sharing psts, they want to share the data real-time.
