    Copy formatting but not styles?

I am emailing a document which has many custom styles that I have used extensively. My problem is that I am emailing it to many different people and they say they have to add the styles. Is there any way to copy the formatting without having to include the styles? I am using Office 2000

I'm not aware of any quick and easy way to convert, say, a body text paragraph into a like-formatted normal paragraph. One could code it, of course. Could be fun.

But your recipients should not have to do anything special to see your document as you created it, because all the style definitions should be embedded in the document already. Is there something special about the way you're mailing it? Are the recipients using a very different version?

Re: Copy formatting but not styles?

We are both using Office 2000 - they are asked if they want to add each of the styles to their template (I haven't seen the message so the wording may be a little off). I used about a dozen so it is a little disconcerting to people. I also tried saving it in the rtf format and styles seem to be in there also.

    Thanks for your input.

Try saving as HTML document. That should preserve the existing formatting

Could you post a sample document? Change all the text to gibberish, but keep each of the styles in there. Perhaps there is something special about your document - I haven't seen this before.

    Hi Jay:

I'm guessing a little, but when you say "we both use Office 2000", are you talking about 1 group of people. I'm wondering under what circumstances they're getting the messages. Maybe "they" open the document & click in the style box & press enter. This can produce a dialog box asking if they want to reapply the style or update the style.
