Word97 OPEN dialogue

An exciting new discovery (for me!) in Word97.

I used Word's file-find to good effect for the first time today. OK. So it worked.

Hours later I opened Word and set about opening a file, and noticed that the File, Open dialogue had changed!

I may be the last person on the face of this earth to learn this, but I am the most excited.

I attach a screen snapshot showing buttons that can be used to switch between List and Detail view. Yeeee-hah!

... and the next button along will show you document Properties.

By default, under Tools/Options/Save I have selected 'Prompt for document properties'. This makes it easy (for me anyway) to track down letters etc. that are filed numerically.

Just as a matter of interest from what did the File, Open dialog change ?.

Were those buttons not there before.?

    Just curious

    Re: Word97 OPEN dialogue

I *think* as a result of my using the Word97 File-Find mechanism.

The buttons must have been there before. I've only been using Word for a lifetime and hadn't got around to noticing them yet.

    Also the Previw button.

I'm not as brilliant as you think I am.

Another illusion shattered - however I am sure you are 95% as brilliant as I thought.

The preview can be useful if you remember roughly what a document should look like but cannot recall the name. The Details I find most useful when you know what you are looking for because you can sort by name, date, type etc.

OK that certainly merits an increase, say 97.5%. Actually as I tend to read in flat mode I did not realise you solved that problem.

Next question : 97.5% of what

    vbg ?
