    I think that familiarity would be the main factor for most of us.

    Linux can be really stable and cheap, if you are familiar with it. It probably has just as many security holes as W2K, but they get exercised by the junior hacker community a little less. If you are not familiar with Linux then it is probably not worth the learning curve for a single installation.

    I was not suggesting you use NT4. Just showing it as an example. I'd install Win2k server today.

    Sorry - I'd not meant to imply you were suggesting NT4. I was just using that example from my wife as to what occurs at times with patches (and that external support from 'professional' firms can leave things to be desired).

    Thanks, I have a sign on my office wall that I try to work by.

    There are two kinds of fool:-
    One says 'This is old and therefore good'
    One says 'This is new and therefore better'

    The whole discussion here has helped me extend my knowledge and given me more to base a decision upon.
