    Exel crashing (Office 97)

When I am linking two spreadsheets Excel will crash if the scroll wheel on my mouse is moved to scroll down the page. Any ideas why ? and if there is a patch available ?
I have tried my IT department in work but there response was well it might get fixed in a service pack in the future. Fat lot of good as you can loose your work !

OK check the Microsoft Knowldge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...h;EN-US;KBHOWTO and type the keywords "Mouse Wheel" and you will get some 6 articles.

Check this one in particular Q183889 - IntelliMouse: Page Fault When Scrolling Through Excel Workbook. If you have a freezed pane it will crash...

Unfreeze your panes, or don't use the mouse wheel...

Thank you both very much. It looks as though I'm stuck until my IT Department rolls out 2000 ! Probably in about 10 years time !
