    Formatting combo box (2000/SR1)

I have placed a combo box on a report in which I would like to display a phone number in the following format: (800) 123-4567.

I use "(@@@) @@@-@@@@" as the Format property on the combo box. The data in the database is unformatted (e.g., 8001234567).

When I preview the report, the phone number remains in its unformatted state.

The combo box is doing a lookup with two columns, Column Widths=0";2", and column one is the bound column.

    Any suggestions?

You really can't make use of a combo box in a report. You need to just display the fields you need in a normal view. My suggestion for the phone number is to format it in the table itself. Odd as it seems, make the field type text. Then select Input Mask in the properties at the bottom. There is a pre-made phone mask there. It will carry through everywhere, even in the table view.

Firstly there is not much point in putting a combobox on a report, it cannot function as a combobox on a report.
Why not create a text control on the report and try the formatting there.
Is the phone number a text field in the table?
