New version of Name Manager!!! (97, 2000, XP)

Hi everyone!

Here is to announce that I've just released my new Name Manager!

Description:

Now available: version 2 of the name manager, created in collaboration with Charles Williams, www.decisionmodels.com. Quite some new features have been added!!! Lists all defined names in your active workbook. Filter names by their scope and their properties, show just names that contain a substring. Edit them in a simple dialog or make a list, edit the list and update all names in one go. Delete, hide, unhide selected names with a single mouse click.

****EDITED the line below 20-dec 2002 *********

Now available on the Excel MVP page as stated below.

Hi,
I just tried your Name Manager and like its functionality. I used to just do the Names/Paste List thing and keep a copy of that for reference (and in case - I mean 'when' Excel crashed). That works fine but your little extra features make it even easier to make mass changes.

I'd like to request one change. I was unable to create the name worksheet when I hit the 'List' button when my workbook is protected. I got no error message or a pop-up dialog asking me to enter the password. It did work as expected when I unprotected the workbook but I think it should at least tell you why it couldn't create the new sheet.

You are right of course, the name manager does not detect protection of any sort.

Version 2.1 is almost ready and still doesn't include that. I'll put it in it's manual though.

Jan Karel,

I have been using your Name Manager and like it very much. I was using it on a workbook that had a sheet named "Main" and it seemed that it always wanted to go to the "Main" sheet even when I was in another sheet?

That is caused by the "Goto" option, which takes you to the selected name. Obviously the first name the Name manager finds is on the sheet Main.
The next version of the name manager has an option to switch this goto behaviour on and off.
