    ISAM error (Access2K SR2)

I have a VB app that opens an A2K file using DAO 3.6 and stores data in it. We have recently converted the Access file from 97 to 2000 running on win2K. Now when the user tries to run the program he gets "Could not find installable ISAM". The error message appears three times, we click ok each time and on the 4th try it opens. The same error occurs once when performing a search anywhere within the app, we click ok and can then perform the search.
The developer does not have the problem on his laptop which is running Win98/A2K. He tried looking at MSKB q209805 with no luck.
Error appears to occur when calling .DatabaseName on a data control. The App also uses winword.exe for reports.
There are a few posts on this forum about this problem but no one seems to have come up with the solution.

    Re: ISAM error (Access2K SR2)

Take a look at <!post=Post 83989,83989>Post 83989<!/post> and see if anything there applies. It sounds like the problem is in the VB/Access environment rather than being specifically an Access problem.

Re: Could not find installable ISAM (Access2K SR2)

    Background:
I have a VB app that opens an A2K file using DAO 3.6 and stores data in it. We have recently converted the Access file from 97 to 2000 running on win2K. Now when the user tries to run the program he gets "Could not find installable ISAM".

    Solution:
We solved the problem ourselves - store it in a safe place and put it in your newsletters for all to benefit. M$ have virtually no information about this issue and clearly don't really care - yet we have used their product since 1988 to manage our data.

Error:: "Could not find installable ISAM" was fixed by updating msvbvm60.dll file installed with win2k SP3 - in other words, win2k SP3 does NOT update this .dll. The correct version to use is the VB6 SP4 (minimum) released sometime before 2002. Microsoft have acknowledged an issue with this dll, ie they announced an issue about localisation.
