Hard drive replaced - what about License (FP 2002)

My hard drive died and I've replaced it - reintalled software. Now I'm to FP 2002. How do I get a new license from MS?

If you only replace one component, the "re-activation" should go without a hitch. Is there a hitch? Does it give you a specific message?

Re: Hard drive replaced - what about License (FP 2

I replaced the whole hard drive so I have to do a fresh install. My apologies if I was less than clear with this on my initial post.

I've heard stories, about XP actually, that if you have to reinstall the OS after a disk failure that you need to get permission from MS. When I installed FP 2002 it required a license contact with MS to activate the product. I haven't begun to reinstall FP yet but I anticipate not being able to do it because of this activation process.

Here are two threads on the activation process that might help answer your question. I don't think you're going to have any problems, but these still might help:

You were right! All that concern and preperation for nothing! Unlike XP stories I heard, FP activated with no problems. Thanks for your help!
