Explorer not recognizing CD-RW disc (XP Home SP-1)

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, but if it isn't, I'm sure it will be moved to the appropriate one. I just installed a new CD Burner (Lite-on 52x24x52x) on my PC. When I insert a blank CD-RW I get the following error message as shown in the attached screenshot. Further, I'm also using Nero 5.5.9.17 and when I open the "InfoTool" utility, under the Disc tab, it says, "no disc inserted". It's not the media itself, as I've tried 3 different brands of discs. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this and how it can be corrected?

Thanks,

Jeff

EDITED - I thought I should add that if a CD-RW has data on it, this error message does not appear. Explorer sees the disc/data but Nero InfoTool still says "no disc inserted".

Jeff,
Have you checked for a Nero update? It may not recognize the drive.

Joe,

I checked for updates right after I posted my query. There was a new update for both Nero Burning ROM and InCD. The problem that I was having with Explorer has disappeared. But the InfoTool still does not display any information under the "Disc" tab for either blank, written, formatted or unformatted CD-RWs nor CD-Rs. I sent off an e-mail to Nero Support, but I am not expecting to hear back any time soon if at all. Methinks any help I get is going to have to come from other than Nero itself.

Thanks,

Jeff

Edited by WyllyWylly to remove reference to software interchange via email in violation of <!rule=10>Rule 10<!/rule> and <!rule=13>Rule 13<!/rule>.

Had the same problem, sat online with Dell for hours, then finally got the fix ... it's a problem with the Roxio driver. Get the new Roxio 5.2 driver, completely uninstall the 5.1 driver before installing the 5.2 driver. Voila, your problem (or at least mine was) is solved.

gasdoc,

Thanks for responding, but I've remedied the problem. All it took was installing the latest InCD from Nero and all is fine now. I once used Roxio's burning software but had serious problems.... so bad, in fact, that it totally crashed my system and I ended up having to reformat my HD and do a complete reinstall. I won't be using any of Roxio's programs ever again. Tech Support was also virtually non-existent. Your "mileage may vary"

You are certainly right on the Roxio drivers - had the same problem on 3 different machines and I, too, will never again mess with them.
