Trouble with appointments (Outlook 2002 SP2 (Outlook Version 10.0.4510))

<font face="Comic Sans MS">When making or changing an appointment, when I drop down the calendar to change the date, or when I try to do the same with the time, as soon as my mouse rolls over the drop-down the drop-down disappears and the mouse defaults back to the current date and/or time. I can change it by typing or using the up and down arrows but that is a real pain. I am running Windows XP Professional Service Packs 1 (build 2600) and 2 and lots of other updates (courtesy of The Belarc Advisor -thankyouverymuch Belarc!), on a 2400 megahertz Intel Pentium 4, yadda yadda yadda and have gotten all the patches, etc, that I need for all my running programs. (Once again thankyouverymuch Belarc Advisor). Does anyone know what I did to mess this up. I remember that it used to not be this way (My machine is only 10 days old today).</font face=comic>

When you say "the mouse defaults back to the current date and/or time" do you mean that the contents of the drop down changes to the current date and time instead of the day and time you selected? Which Calendar view do you use ... Day/Week/Month, or something else? What are your usual steps for creating or changing an appointment/meeting? I can't think what might be causing this unless you have something unusual in your mouse settings, or a corrupt installation. Check your mouse settings under control panel.

    John -

Sorry if I wasn't completely clear. OK - lets say I am in calendar (Daily view). I click on Actions, New Appointment (actually I do this via a shortcut but the same problem happens when I do it via the calendar). I type in whatever info I want in the Subject and Location areas. Where it says "Start Time" there is a dropdown arrow that brings up a calendar for choosing a date and another one for the time. And the same for "End Time". When I drop down these arrows I get the Calendar, times, etc to show up. But the moment I move my mouse over the Calendar/times, the Calendar/times disappear and my mouse in now on the spot where I would have wanted it to be on the Calendar/time etc. but the Calendar/time dropdown has disappeared. This also happens with the Reminder time but NOT with the other dropdown stuff on the appointment (show times as busy, free, etc. and the Label dropdown. I tried to attach some screen shots to show you what I mean but the mouse pointer is missing from the screen shots so it does not help much. I am using a Logitech MX700 mouse with the newest version of Mouseware and I do not think it is that because I am encountering no problems with my mouse anywhere else.

    I am a bit baffled. <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

See if MaryJ's <!post=reset views,112842>reset views<!/post> idea helps. Have you customized the Appointment Form? See Calendar Control Not Available in Custom Form.

Nothing in your last post seemed to help. I tried to reset things, and still as soon as I move my mouse off the dropdown button the calendar/times, etc. disappear. I am wondering if I should just run detect and repair - although this machine is so new (10 days) that I am wondering if that is a good idea...

Detect and repair won't hurt. Other than I still wonder if you have an unusual mouse scroll-wheel setting, I'm out of ideas.

I found the problem!!! It was because of a setting I had made with Tweak UI. I had activated the X-Mouse setting. I just went and deactivated it and now I no longer have the problem. If you do not know what the X-Mouse is I attached a screen shot of the Tweak dialog box that tells it all <grin>.
