Saving custom colors (Word 2000)

Is there a way to save (i.e., make Word remember) a custom color that I use for text, table borders, and shading?

Hi Chuck:
You can make it part of a style & then use that style. As for table borders, you can save a table with the appropriate borders as an AutoText entry.

Hope this helps.

For borders, you could record a macro of yourself applying that color, and then simplify that code to do just what you want (that is, don't change line styles, etc.). For example, if you want to recolor the borders of a table with a predetermined custom color:

Sub ColorMyTableBorders()
With Selection.Tables(1)
.Borders(wdBorderLeft).Color = 8477493
.Borders(wdBorderRight).Color = 8477493
.Borders(wdBorderTop).Color = 8477493
.Borders(wdBorderBottom).Color = 8477493
.Borders(wdBorderHorizontal).Color = 8477493
.Borders(wdBorderVertical).Color = 8477493
End With
End Sub

Note that this color was chosen at random; your color will vary, I'm sure. In the recorded macro, changing the color also set a default for the line style. I left this out so it wouldn't affect other documents... you could reverse the strategy and set the custom color as the default for all line styles and just use the Borders dialog that way. Hope this helps get the ideas flowing!

Thanks for the suggestions. I found that macros work best.
