Outlook asking for login info when it starts (xp sp-1)

Whenever i first start outlook it asks for my password on send/receive. Remember password is checked. Does not asks again until it is closed and re-opened. Any ideas how make it stop asking on startup?

If you were running Outlook 2000 on Windows 98, I'd think maybe you bypassed the Windows logon. What OS are you using and how do you log on?

I also have two machines which are running XP Pro and Outlook 2002. I recently installed Money 2003 on both systems, and set up a passport account to make life 'simple'. Now BOTH machines ask for the POP password continually, and despite having the checkbox selected to save password do not do so. In both cases it looks like I am not getting mail anymore. Is this related? Anyone have similar experiences?

I have exactly the same issue as well. Windows XP SP1 and Office XP all SP's and Patches applied. My computer won't remember web page passwords either - not just Outlook.

KB301475 : OL2002: User Is Prompted for Password That Is Already Saved claims it was "first corrected" twice, (and was otherwise fixed by SP1) so may not be much help.

    How about:
KB290684 : OL2002: The Save Password Setting Is Not Saved When You Connect to a POP3 Server ?

Is the other machine logged in to the same account?

Some ISP's do not like more than one user a time in the same account.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Machines are not logged on to same account.

Yes, I found both of these on the support pages at Microsoft - does not fix it for me.

You need to delete the protected storage key:
For Outlook 2000 on Windows 2000:
    (CW) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;Q275465
    (IMO) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;Q259416

For all Outlook versions on Windows XP (this article is written for OE
but the solution applies to Outlook too):
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;ENUS;q264672

Well I'll be stuffed. Mary - you genius. That fixed it. I had found that article as well but as it applied to Outlook Express and registry hacking I did not do it. Just did it and now it works perfectly even after a few re-boots.

Thanks a lot for the help and I hope others try it as well.
