    User-Defined Function (XP)

Is there a way to force Excel to look into the personal.xls for user defined functions. I would like to use <font color=blue>=shift(C3,3)</font color=blue> instead of <font color=red>=Personal.xls!shift(C3,3)</font color=red>. Excel should be smart enough to look in the personal.xls for macros and custom functions!...Isn't that the primary pupose of Personal.xls?

Create an Addin with these user-defined functions. Addins do not require prefacing the filename as they are handled differently. Personal.xls is still an "xls" and requires prefacing the filename before the function.

Here is an article on creating addins. It is for xl97, but most should still be appropriate for XL-XP.
