    Contacts Drop-down crash (Outlook 2000 SR1a)

    Outlook 2000, Windows 2000

Some time ago I had the following problem and it has now returned.

Clicking in the Contacts shortcut drop-down list (graphic attached) produces an immediate crash of Outlook. The message saying that an error has occurred and Outlook will close down appears.

I believe that these errors are connected to the fact that I customized the standard Contacts form for some of my new contacts.

After some time the error disappeared. However, I flagged one of the contacts who has a customized form and now the problem has resurfaced. Removing the flag doesn't help. Maybe 10% of the time I can use the Contacts drop-down without a crash but usually it crashes.

(Also, but less crucial, Outlook often hangs when I use the Spell Checker when replying to a message in HTML or RTF. That is when the blue bars and text appear.)

    Any suggestions? TIAs guaranteed.

No ideas yet, but I have a couple of questions:

Is the custom form the default form for the folder?

Have you customized any views to work wth any custom form fields and if so, have you noticed any correlation between use of particular view and the error?

(OK, so maybe that's three questions...)

    Thanks for getting in touch.

    1. The custom form is not the default.

    2. I haven't customised views so these fields do not appear in any views.

    Keep thinking!
