    Search Question

If I put in the criteria "mozilla" and search in "browser" I get zero responses. Just for the heck of it, I shortened it to "moz" and the results look like a correct list (I checked a few of the profiles). Seems like anything MORE than the first three characters and it doesn't find anything (I tried making it "mozi" as well). Don't have problems like that searching on state or certain other fields. On purpose?

    Re: Search Question

If I search "Other Browsers" for "mozi" I get hundreds of hits.

    Re: Search Question

Sorry, Legare. I should have specified that I'm searching profiles, not forums. (I was looking for Loungers who have said they run Mozilla)

Peculiar. You can search Profiles for Opera users using criteria word "Opera".

    Re: Search Question

I think you found the trick Al....

I recall seeing both [Moz] and [Mozilla] as labels when viewing the the Who's Online page. As you can imagine, searching Moz will find both tags, while Mozilla will only find itself.

Of course, I could be way off on this one....

Edited by cbaldrey later to add the follow....

I just did a search myself on Internet expecting to see a HUGE number of Internet Explorer users, and got none at all. When I searched IE5 I got over 2000 returned items... So I would conclude, that to search by browser, you need to search with the tag displayed on the Who's Online screen.

If you call me Al, I'll have to call you Betty, I can be your bodyguard, and you can be my long lost pal.

Yes, for IE just use IE5 & IE6, for Opera, use Opera, and for Netscape, N4 & N6, plus there's also one "NetSp" whatever that is.

    Re: Search Question

OK, OK I ain't fightin' it, I just wanna know how to do it. The Search Profiles screen clearly says PROFILES and my profile looks like the attached, not what's on the Who's Online screen. If that's the way it is, now I know.

Well, strictly speaking, it is the server (I believe) which picks up what browser you are using when you edit your profile. We may need to find out how that info is stored to be able to define the correct search criteria.

Interestingly enough, a search simply on "M" throws up the odd figure of 99 users . . .

    Re: Search Question

Almost....I dug up a little old gem. The browser is refreshed every time you visit your controls page. However, like the Lounge skins, I believe there is a table that converts the tag you see in 'Who's Online' into a friendlier "long name." Thus, the results you're getting when searching.
