vCal & iCal as attachments (2002 / XP)

I have a need to make use of Outlook 2002 as the email client in our corporate connecting to an IMAP server at the backend for email.

I would like to be able to use the calendaring within Outlook (as a basic diary) but when sending a meeting request/notice the iCalendar information arrives at the other end as text within the email. I would prefer the iCalendar data to arrive as an attachment, so that the end user (not necessarily Outlook) can let their default calendaring application deal with meeting information.

    Any ideas?

See Post: 188704 and the thread for more details. The short story is that if you use RTF format then the iCal/vCal should go out fine. But - there's always a but - OLXP's version of iCal is not compatible with several older mail clients (including Outlook) because of a standards change. If you have to use iCal then don't set a reminder if you want to maximize compatibility. Otherwise, vCal is the most likely item to work across the board.
