Prevent Excel from removing leading zeroes (2002 SP-2)

Whenever I enter a number that begins with a 0, after moving to another cell, Excel automatically deletes the leading 0.

How do I prevent Excel from deleting these zeroes?

    Thanks!

If you want to maintain the cell as numeric, Highlight the column or cell, go to Format Cells, Select Custom, In Type, insert 00. The 01 will then stay as 01.

    Or

If the format of the cell is not of concern, then change the cell or all cells in the column to a text format.

Or you can enter the number 01 as '01 with the ' indicating that the data is a text field.

    HTH
