    'Heading 1' changing to 'Heading 1,Heading char'? (Word 2002)

    Hi,

    I am encountering a rather strange problem when I attempt to apply Template styles to my document.

    My document contains paragraphs which have Heading styles 1-9 applied.

    Before applying the new Template, the headings appear as normal in the style box on the Formatting toolbar. ie) "Heading 1", "Heading 2", "Heading 3" etc...

    However, when I attempt to apply a new Template using 'Format | Theme | Style Gallery | Template Name', what was "Heading 1" before now becomes "Heading 1, Heading 1 Char".

    See attached image.

    This is causing havoc with my application, which in places uses code such as:

    Selection.Style = ActiveDocument.Styles("Heading 1")

    Now, if "Heading 1" suddenly becomes "Heading 1, Heading 1 char" then this will break!!

    Any advice would be much appreciated on this.

    Thanks, Chris

    Will break or does break?

    The name of the style is still "Heading 1". The bit after the comma is an alias which could also be used to return the same style. I would have expected that the macros will still run happily inside Word.

    Maybe this thread from the Word board will help you.
