Pivot Tables - Problem Obtaining Data (A2K SR1)

We have several access databases that have been using the pivot table functionality without error for several months. Over the last two weeks, several machines can no longer generate the pivot tables properly. When launched, we get the form that indicates "Edit Pivot Table Object". We then launch the pivot table and can get to the data, However, the system fails when the data is refreshed.

In addition, I have created a blank database with one table of data (No Parameter Queries) and tried to create a pivot table from here. Again, the system indicates Problem Obtaining Data.

I have checked references, had Office uninstalled and re-installed and it still doesn't work.

Anyone have any suggestions on other items to check.

Note: The databases that are not working work fine on other computers so I assume the error is system specific. In addition, the only difference on the computers that it is not working is that they were used to log into an Integrated Digital Environment (Livelink) on the Web.

Re: Pivot Tables - Problem Obtaining Data (A2K SR1)

I don't know why this worked but figured that the issue had to do with the drivers on my machine since the file worked without error on other machines. In either event, Since I program mostly with DAO 3.6 I figured that something must be wrong with the DAO 3.6 drivers on my machine. Went to the microsoft knowledge base and read up on error messages and figured I would try to re-register the DAO360.dll file.

The knowledgebase indicates that Regsvr32.exe registers dynamic link library (.dll) files or ActiveX Controls in Windows.

I did the following to use Regsvr32.exe to register the Data Access Objects (DAO) DLL as suggested by the knowledge base.
Quit Microsoft Access if it is running.
Verify that Regsvr32.exe is in your WindowsSystem folder, for example:

C:WindowsSystem

-or-

WinntSystem32

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Run dialog box, type the following command:

Regsvr32.exe Crogra~1common~1micros~1daodao360.dll

This Corrected The Problem and the Pivot Table Functionality is working once again.

(Now if only someone could tell my why this worked.....)
Regards,

Gary
