    Refresh & Lost Icons

My father-in-law has lost all of his program icons on his PC desktop. When you are at the desktop and right click, you get a shortcut menu. One of the items is "Refresh". When clicked, what does that do for you (or to you)? He says that is the item he clicked last. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

    Re: Refresh & Lost Icons

Refresh simply reloads the desktop icons....or more accurately, refreshes them. If you go to a website and refresh the page, it will be reloaded from the web server that contains it.

If your father-in-law has lost all of his icons, there was something he did prior to this to cause it. Enabling the Active Desktop can allow hiding of all icons, and that's the logical guess I'm going to put forth.

We found the problem. He disabled the "Show Desktop Icons" on the desktop shortcut menu. Thanks.
