    Acrobat Reader

I load a pdf file and on reading some pages receive the message:
'There was an error processing a page. An error has occurred that may be fixed by installing the latest version of the Japanese Language support package.' Now, the document is written in English with some mathematical expressions. How come the reference to Japanese and how do I get to read all of the pdf document? Thanks.

Is the PDF file stored locally, or is it on a website?

Admittedly I don't know a lot about how Acrobat files are encoded, but it sounds like the encoding of web pages, where you will sometimes get a prompt to install a language pack. In those cases, it doesn't matter what language the page appears in, the page's code itself causes that prompt. Can you post the PDF as an attachment?

    Re: Acrobat Reader

I can only speculate as to why this is happening, since have had it happen to me before.

In my day job, I work for a national public broadcaster, and have to download technical manuald from our manufacturers website. They appear to be all in english.but it still required the Japanese Language support package. And here is the speculation, the pdf is created in Japan (Sony typically), so I am assuming that they have a localised Japanese version of Acrobat which when you try and display it on a non-Japanese localised version of Acrobat, it needs some of the files in the Support pack, to display the english text.

About the only way to be able to view the full PDF is to download and install the Japanese support package, which is actually called Asian font Pack on Adobe's site, from here

I would suspect you are right.
From the Adobe support site: Error When Opening a PDF File with Asian Language Characters in Acrobat 4.0 or Later.
