Editing Reminder Time field (OL 2000)

I'm trying to figure out a good way to keep track of people I need to contact, call, etc. Until a week ago I used Tasks to identify contacts that required some action. However, the Task feature has always seemed like overkill so I started playing around with flagging contact records. I found that setting a flag for a contact much more effective for displaying all the contacts. By selecting Current View|By Follow Up Flag, I'm able to see a list of only the Contacts I need to work with and can also sort them by columns. This approach is much more effective for managing my work until I have to edit the Reminder Time field. The only way to change the Reminder Time field seems is to edit or delete the information from the field and retype it. Clicking on the row record simply opens the Contact and their doesn't seem to be any way to edit the information other than selecting the All Fields tab, selecting Miscellaneous Fields and editing the Reminder Time data. Is their nothing like the Reminder line in Tasks that can be invoked to make changing the date/time any easier?

This may help, even if not quite what you're after.

When your contacts are in a table view (eg by reminder), you can use the field chooser to add the reminder time column to the view. It doesn't give you the reminder line that's in tasks, but at least you can enter the reminder time without having to open the contact first. Also remember "friendly" date and time entries (eg "tomorrow") - try the answer wizard with "date time value" for more.

The proper solution probably involves forms (beyond my skill set). You may find someone here that knows enough about them to help you, or start experimenting in your spare time.

Thanks Tim, that helped. I was already displaying the field as a column, and the reference to alternate ways to enter information has made the process a lot easier. Compare trying to highlight just the time in "Wednesday 1/15/2003 13:00" with clicking on the entire field and entering "tomorrow 1 pm" . It's still not great but truly a lot easier. I agree that a solution is to modify the contact record form with something similar to the Task idea, but, alas, my skills in that area as well as available time, are lacking. Again, thanks, you've at least made this a lot easier.

outlook uses natural language and shortcuts - 1d is easier to type than tomorrow. 1.30p converts to 1:30 PM... d, w, y, mo work for dates - h and m for time.
