Service Release or Pack (Office 2000 SR-1)

I have ordered Office 2000 Service Pack 3 on CD and Microsoft has e-mailed me an acknowledgement with an item number of OFFICE PREM 2000 SR1 W32 EN PAT CD (Part No: A96-01963). I have confirmed with MS twice by phone that this is in fact Service Pack 3 despite the fact that the item number contains SR1 and does not mention Service Pack 3. I already have Service Pack 1 or SR-1 as indicated on the service release CD and in About... Is any one else as confused as I am about the service pack or service release numbers? Is a Service Pack the same as a Service Release? Is there a Service Release 1 and a Service Pack 1?

Didn't Woody try to some research on this a while back, via WOW? If I remember correctly, he asked people to send in details of what appeared on their CDs, docco, and displayed versions (&I recall sending my details in)> But I don't remember seeing any results from this survey. If they're available, that could help untangle some of this Winspeak.
