    ASP pages: How to use?

How do I deal with files saved as *.ASP from Netscape 4.7?

Typical situation: I'm browsing the web, see a good page, save it.

If it's an HTML page it gets saved as HTML and I can load it comfortable in either netscape4.7 or Word97SR2.

If it's an ASP page, netscapr barfs and produces a series of insatiable pop-up boxes as the attached BMP shows (I PKZipped it to reduce file size).

One option is for me to rename each file from ASP to HTM, but I'd rather deal with the problem at source.

From memory I also have this problem with a few other web-page formats. Is CSB one of them?

What happens if you uncheck this box?

I haven't forgotten you, just haven't had a chance to try it yet. Thanks

    Hi Chris & Jefferson:

I'm not so sure that it's a good idea to uncheck this box. I always have my options set to "Save to disk", because I don't like opening a file automatically. I'm not sure how Netscape determines the file type & I don't want to accidentally open a file that's named anything.txt.vbs

I'm going to try to find the answer to that, but if you know it, please let me know.

I was wondering why, after two weeks, I'd not tried it.

I don't get that box when I'm issuing a File, saveAs from Netscape 4.7.

    Hi Chris:

I think that this is where you set the preference for that box.
    1. Open My Computer (well, open yours) <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
    2. View/Folder Options/File Types tab
    3. Scroll to the type of file you want confirmation on
    4. Click Edit
    5. Click the box near the bottom (see my attachment)

My drawings are not nearly as good as Jefferson's.

I don't see that option in my box. I'm the original Win95 (upgrade from WFWG)

Sorry. That's in Win 98SE. I don't know where it is in Win 95.
